Bengal IPA

The Calcutta Gazette, 1822, advertised: goods just landed after a 4 month voyage around the Cape of Good Hope: “Hodgson’s warranted prime picked pale ale of the genuine October brewing, warranted fully equal, if not superior, to any ever before received in the settlement.” Red Duck Bengal IPA is a beer that pays homage to the original British IPAs, but with a modern touch by using generous, but not aggressive, amounts of Centennial and Cascade hops. Which means the bitterness is moderate for this style, around 60-65 IBUs, and at 7% Alc/vol, the extra malt means that this is a really drinkable IPA.

Bengal IPA has a great balance between hop flavours, aromas and rich malt characters. Pale malt and a small amount of caramalt has given the ale a deep golden amber colour.
