GOLDEN DRAGON A rich and complex, strong ale. Intense flavours are derived from 4 different malts, balanced by high levels of hops. The colour is a deep golden red, with malty, almost mystical aromas. The flavours are hard to describe - this is a beer unlike others. We cellar this ale for a number of months before release, and only let it out when we believe that a balance of flavours has been achieved. Red Duck Golden Dragon is best served from 6°c to 12°C, depending on the individuals preference, and in a large glass. This allows the ale to breath, and as it warms, changing the complex range of flavours. An amazing experience when the ale is young, but will also cellar for many years. BACKGROUND In celtic mythology dragons symbolize trouble. Very early in the history of Britain, one of the great warriors and kings, Lludd, was set the task of restoring peace to his kingdom. The trouble was caused by two dragons that were constantly fighting. He dug a huge pit, in the exact centre of the island, and placed a large tub of beer in it. The dragons were lured into the pit by the wonderful smell of the beer, fighting each other fiercely to get it. Some versions say they fought to the death, not being able to escape the pit, other versions have Lludd transforming the dragons into pigs through celtic sorcery. Either way, the celts were now able to enjoy their lives, and beer drinking, in peace. Our Golden Dragon Strong Celtic Ale is a tribute all brave and wise celts, that live in peace, but occasionally don't mind a spot of trouble. |
